HEALTH
AND HUMAN SERVICES
The Atlanta (GA) Chapter’s Health and Human Services Facet leads initiatives that advance health equity and promote wellness across the community.
The committee focuses on education, prevention, and early detection of chronic diseases that disproportionately affect African Americans, including diabetes, heart disease, and depression. Through partnerships with local organizations aligned with national initiatives, our programs SMART M.O.U.T.H. and Links in 3D, the HHS Facet provides screenings, health education, and resources to underserved populations in Metro Atlanta. The Facet leads participation with Atlanta Cluster Chapters in the Walk for Health Living and the Black Family Wellness Expo to expand access to wellness and health care resources and encourage healthy lifestyles. Collectively, these efforts reflect The Links, Incorporated’s mission to strengthen and transform communities through sustainable health-focused service.

PROGRAMS

Smart M.O.U.T.H. addresses dental care gaps for African American children in Atlanta by providing free screenings, preventive care, and referrals through school and National Dental Association partnerships. The program has served over 28,000 individuals over the life of the program. The program also promotes diversity in dental careers.

Addressing diabetes, heart disease, and depression in underserved communities, this program promotes education, early detection, and access to health resources through partnerships, health fairs, and training health encouragers.
